About Blue Eye Samurai
Blue Eye Samurai (2023) is Netflix's Emmy-winning animated epic: Mizu, a mixed-race sword master in Edo Japan, hunts the four white men who could be her father. Season 1 runs eight episodes to a duel that settles one score and opens the larger hunt.
Season 2 moves the revenge to London, arriving January 2027 with Mizu crossing the sea while Akemi and Taigen navigate Edo under a dangerous new shogun. There are only two chapters so far, watched in order; the show is a single serialized revenge tale, so no episode stands alone. The animation blends 2D craft with 3D staging at a feature-film level throughout.
Good to know
The January 2027 date for season 2 was confirmed with a teaser in August 2026, so treat the month as locked but the exact day as pending. Season 1 ends mid-hunt by design, which frustrated some viewers: it is the first act, not a complete story. The show is adult animation with brutal sword violence and explicit content, despite the painterly look. Six episodes were reported for the London season at the last check.
