About Castlevania (animated)
Netflix's Castlevania (2017 to 2021) proved game adaptations could work: Trevor Belmont, Sypha and Alucard hunt Dracula's war on Wallachia across four seasons of gothic horror. The story closes properly, then Castlevania: Nocturne (2023) jumps three centuries to Richter Belmont in revolutionary France.
Watch the original four seasons first, then Nocturne's two seasons: Alucard bridges both, and Nocturne assumes you know him. The games are inspiration, not homework, since both shows tell original stories. Nocturne's second season ends in a place that works as a finale, with no third season announced at the last check.
Good to know
The first season is only four episodes and functions as a prologue, so do not judge the show on it alone: season 2 is where the ensemble clicks. Nocturne adapts Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night loosely, remixing rather than retelling. Content is hard-R throughout, with gore and language far beyond the games' pixel violence. The Belmont family tree matters less than the shows suggest; each generation stands alone.
