About Esme and Roy

Esme and Roy follows siblings Esme and Roy, the best monster sitters in Monsterdale, who care for young monsters like Hugo the Ogre and Fig the tiny dragon. Each episode pairs a feelings lesson with a playful invention from their grandmother's trunk. The Sesame Workshop series aired two seasons from 2018 to 2021.

Season 1 establishes the core routine around bedtime, bath time and sharing. Season 2 introduces new monsters and slightly longer problem-solving stories that assume familiarity with the Belly Breathe and Plan steps. The episodes work standalone, but the sitters' confidence visibly grows across the run, which rewards watching in order.

Good to know

There is no alternate order to consider. The show teaches the same calming steps each time, and later episodes reference earlier monster friends by name. Start with season 1, then move to season 2. Parents showing the series to toddlers can pick any episode once the formula is clear, but first-time viewers get more from seeing Hugo and Fig introduced properly before their spotlight stories.
