About The Flintstones
The original Flintstones ran six seasons on ABC from 1960 to 1966 and defined the prime-time cartoon sitcom. The animated feature The Man Called Flintstone (1966) closed that era, and the 1970s and 80s brought Saturday-morning spinoffs built around Pebbles, Bamm-Bamm, Fred and Barney. Universal's live-action films, The Flintstones (1994) and the prequel Viva Rock Vegas (2000), retell the Bedrock story with new casts.
Yabba Dabba Dinosaurs (2021 to 2022) is the only modern series: 26 episodes following Pebbles, Bamm-Bamm and Dino that premiered on HBO Max. The adult sequel Bedrock stalled at Fox in July 2024, while a live-action Bamm-Bamm film entered early development at Warner Bros. in August 2026. Release order works throughout; the spinoffs are episodic.
Good to know
Bedrock, the Fox adult sequel with Elizabeth Banks as Pebbles, was announced in April 2021 and dropped in July 2024, though Fox left the door open to redevelop it. The Bamm-Bamm film (Gosling producing) is early-stage with no writer, cast or date. One-off specials such as Hollyrock-a-Bye Baby and the Cave Kids shorts are omitted for brevity.
