About Gargoyles
Gargoyles aired for 78 episodes from October 1994 to February 1997. The first two seasons ran in syndication as part of the Disney Afternoon block, while the third aired on ABC Saturday mornings under the title Gargoyles: The Goliath Chronicles. The story follows Goliath's clan from medieval Scotland to modern Manhattan, mixing Shakespeare, mythology, and long story arcs.
Watch in release order. The five-part opener Awakening works as a pilot movie on Disney+. Stop treating season 3 as canon after its premiere: creator Greg Weisman rejects the rest, and the Slave Labor Graphics comics continue the story from the end of season 2 instead.
Good to know
Canon caveat: Weisman counts only the season 3 premiere, The Journey, then ignores the remaining Goliath Chronicles episodes. The Slave Labor Graphics comics (2006 to 2009), including the Clan-Building and Bad Guys arcs, serve as his canonical season 3. Dynamite Entertainment relaunched the comics in 2022 as a Season 4 onward continuity. The Disney+ live-action series is dead: Weisman confirmed at FAN EXPO Chicago in August 2026 that it will not move forward. A July 2026 podcast remark by Brent Spiner hinting at an animated revival is unconfirmed.
