About George of the Jungle
George of the Jungle began with Jay Ward in 1967 about the clumsy ape-man swinging into trees with Ape and Shep. The 1997 live-action film with Brendan Fraser retells the Ursula romance, followed by the 2003 sequel with new faces. The 2007 Cartoon Network reboot ran 26 episodes, and the 2016 series continued the remake era with new voices.
Each version resets the jungle rescues with no shared timeline, so the originals, the films and the reboots all start clean. No new series has been announced, leaving the 2016 run as the modern telling rather than a continuation.
Good to know
Start with the 1967 run for the classic theme and the tree gags, then the 1997 film as its own telling. The 2007 and 2016 series work after as kid-friendly takes with longer stories. Later versions reuse Ursula and Magnolia with new voices, so treat each as its own jungle run with its own fresh tree gags.
