About Godzilla: The Series
Godzilla: The Series opened September 1998 as a direct sequel to the TriStar film, with Nick Tatopoulos and HEAT guiding the surviving offspring Zilla Jr. Season 1 ran 21 episodes through 1999 with weekly mutations and military plots.
Season 2 ran 19 episodes through April 2000, closing with two episodes unaired in North America at first run. Malcolm Danare, Kevin Dunn and Michael Lerner reprise film roles with Ian Ziering as Nick. The planned film trilogy was scrapped, leaving this run as the continuity close.
Good to know
Watch the 1998 film first for the setup, then seasons 1 and 2 in that order fully. The offspring imprint and HEAT roster assume the film directly from the start of the show. Later Monsterverse and Monarch entries sit in other continuities and need no homework here at all. The finale ends the team run with no sequel after.
