About Sooty
Sooty follows the bear with Sweep, Soo and presenters from Corbett to Matthew to Slater on stage and TV. The 1955 run sets the wand, water pistol and bedtime rules across BBC tales with squeaks. Later runs add Scampi, Butch and Miki with shop and park plots.
The 2011 CITV return keeps the same squeak format into the 2020s with new guest stars. Stage shows play as extras outside TV canon. The show stays open with orders, so broadcast order keeps each presenter handover clear without a finale to aim for in 2024.
Good to know
Tales can be sampled freely, but start with the Corbett or Matthew run to learn Sooty rules. Later wand and shop gags only make sense after the base trio seen. The 2011 return fits after the classics as a new style rather than a season 9. Treat the show as open, since new tales keep getting ordered as of September 2026.
