About Thomas and Friends
Thomas and Friends follows Thomas with Edward, Henry, Gordon and Percy on Sodor. Series 1 from 1984 sets the Fat Controller, Tidmouth and Awdry story rules with model trains. Later series add Emily, Nia and Rebecca with new sheds.
The HIT era from 2004 moves into CGI with Day of the Diesels plots, while All Engines Go from 2021 reboots with new designs to 2025. Films like Magic Railroad play as extras. The show stays open with Mattel orders, so broadcast order keeps each engine arrival clear without a finale to aim for.
Good to know
Tales can be sampled freely, but start with series 1 to learn Sodor rules well. Later engine gags only make sense after the base shed seen across years. All Engines Go fits last as a new style rather than a season 25. Treat the show as open, since new tales keep getting ordered as of September 2026.
