About Ape Escape
Ape Escape began with Japan Studio in 1999 about Spike catching time-traveling apes with the net and stun club. Ape Escape 2 (2003) follows Jimmy around the amusement park, Pumped and Primed (2004) stages the monkey tournaments, and Million Monkeys (2006) closes the PS2 run with the equipment contests. The PSP and PS3 ports kept the hunts alive through 2010.
Sony has not dated a revival as of 2026 despite anniversary nods, leaving Million Monkeys as the endpoint. The time-net and the RC car gadgets stay consistent across every entry with the same helmet humor intact.
Good to know
Play one through three in release order, since the Specter rivalry and the net upgrades assume the run. Pumped and Primed works as a party extra after the sequel rather than a required chapter in the hunt. Later ports add mini-games around the same hunts, safe as bonuses after the console originals are done.
