About Adventure Island
Adventure Island follows Master Higgins, a skateboard teen racing across islands to save Tina from aliens and witches. Hudson Soft started the run on NES in 1986 and kept the one hit run and egg throwing loop through sequels on NES, Super NES, Game Boy and TurboGrafx.
Play in release order. The NES trilogy builds the loop gently, then the Super NES games add mounts and branching paths that assume core habits. Later portable remakes retell the same island beats, so they work as replacements rather than sequels. The 2009 Wii remake is the friendliest modern start.
Good to know
Stories reset around Tina and the island, so release order tracks mechanics rather than plot. The NES games are strict one hit runners, while Super Adventure Island softens falls with more health. Many TurboGrafx and Game Boy entries stayed obscure outside Japan, which is why this list favors the main console path. No new Adventure Island has shipped since the Wii era.
