About Bonk
Bonk follows the headbutting caveman PC Genjin across prehistoric lands, bouncing off enemies with his giant head. Hudson Soft ran the series on TurboGrafx from 1989, with Bonk's Adventure, Bonk's Revenge and Bonk 3, then moved to Super NES for Super Bonk and its sequel.
Play in release order. The TurboGrafx trilogy teaches the headbutt sizes and meat powerups in sequence, while the Super NES games assume that fluency and add meat morphs. Bonk 3 on CD adds large and small forms that rework routes, so it plays best after Revenge. Spineless and chomping variants stay optional.
Good to know
Each game resets its princess rescue plot, so order tracks moves rather than story. The TurboGrafx originals are short arcade style runs, while Super Bonk stretches longer with more backtracking. Meat stages gate the large and invincible forms, which is why Revenge habits matter before part three. No new Bonk has shipped since the nineties Super Famicom run.
