About Bloodstained
Bloodstained (2018 to 2020) is Koji Igarashi's Castlevania succession in three games: Curse of the Moon's 8-bit Inti Creates homage, Ritual of the Night's full Igavania epic as Miriam, and Curse of the Moon 2's expanded sequel. The Kickstarter origins show in the best way.
Release order is the guide; the games share the demon-crystal premise while each stands alone. Ritual is the essential metroidvania, the Curse pair the essential retro companions. The 8-bit entries play like lost NES classics by design. The series ends its run at the second Curse for now.
Good to know
Ritual's launch performance issues are long patched; modern versions are the ones to judge. Curse of the Moon 2 adds multiple playable characters over the first. The Kickstarter stretch goals explain the games' generous content. A sequel to Ritual has been discussed without a date, so the three games are the set for now. The Castlevania DNA is the entire pitch and it delivers.
