Celeste (2018) climbs Madeline through 8 chapters against Badeline, opening January 25, 2018 for Switch, PS4, PC and Mac from Matt Makes Games, with Xbox One next day. Farewell Chapter 9 DLC (2019) adds 100 plus very hard rooms with new jellyfish and puffer mechanics from September 9, 2019 free on all platforms with Xbox slight delay.
Thorson said Farewell is the final chapter with no sequel in works, moving to Extremely OK Games new IP. The DLC needs Chapter 8 clear to unlock. Play base to summit first, then Farewell once you beat Core, since 2-dash refills assume feather basics.
Good to know
Release order matches skill order, with Farewell tuning for 800 plus level veterans. Do not start with Farewell, since it assumes wavedash and wallbounce without teaching. The base runs best with Assist Mode on if spikes frustrate. Treat the set as complete, with Farewell as final update and no sequel dated.
