About Chrono
Chrono starts with Trigger in 1995 about Crono's party stopping Lavos across eras, a consensus classic. Radical Dreamers follows as the text bridge between eras, largely unavailable officially for years. Cross in 1999 continues with Serge's split worlds and Schala's rescue threading back to Trigger's cast, debated endlessly as sequel or side story.
Play Trigger first, then Cross. Cross assumes Trigger's Lavos outcome known while telling a standalone Serge story, so release order satisfies both camps. Radical Dreamers slots between for completists where accessible. The DS port modernizes Trigger accessibly, and no third game has ever materialized beyond rumors.
Good to know
Trigger first, Cross second, no exceptions. Cross's Belthasar and Schala threads only register with Trigger finished, whatever side of the sequel debate you take. Radical Dreamers is optional connective tissue that Cross partly overwrites. The series ends at two main games plus the bridge, making this among the shortest complete runs on the site.
