About Divinity
Divinity is Larian's RPG saga across Rivellon, starting with Divine Divinity's top-down hunt in 2002 and continuing through Beyond Divinity into Divinity 2's dragon-knight curse from 2009. Dragon Commander from 2013 detours into strategy with dragon combat.
Original Sin from 2014 and its 2017 sequel reboot the formula as co-op turn-based with Source magic, set centuries before the early games. A new Divinity was announced with a 2025 cinematic and no date. Lore order scrambles the timeline, so release order is recommended for systems and story reveals.
Good to know
Story order differs sharply: Dragon Commander is earliest, then Original Sin, then its sequel, then the classic games. First-timers should ignore that and use release order, since Original Sin assumes modern co-op habits. The Fallen Heroes spinoff was cancelled. The announced Divinity has only a cinematic trailer so far. Enhanced and Definitive editions are the versions to buy.
