About Dead Space
Dead Space follows Isaac Clarke in order across three games plus a remake. The 2008 original traps the Ishimura crew with the Marker, Dead Space 2 from 2011 moves to the Sprawl with stranger hallucinations, and Dead Space 3 from 2013 takes the co-op route to Tau Volantis.
The 2023 Motive remake retells the first game with rewritten Isaac dialogue and expanded Ishimura areas as the modern entry point. Animated films Downfall and Aftermath plus the comics slot as prequels, and no sequel to the remake has been announced, so the series waits.
Good to know
New players should take the remake, then 2, then 3, since the remake replaces the 2008 original cleanly. Purists can play the original trilogy untouched with the same story beats. Downfall fits before the first game as a prequel film, and the remake's success has not yet produced a dated sequel, so the guide ends in a waiting state.
