About Desperados
Desperados Wanted Dead or Alive from 2001 sets John Cooper chasing El Diablo across 25 isometric tactics maps with Kate, Doc, Sam and Mia. Desperados 2 Cooper's Revenge from 2006 continues with Angel Face and Hawkeye in 3D. Helldorado from 2007 closes the old run with a rival gang war.
Desperados 3 from June 2020 by Mimimi reboots as a prequel showing how Cooper met Hector, Isabelle and McCoy. It plays best last despite its early setting, since it assumes you know each hero's trick. No fourth game was dated by September 2026 after Mimimi closed in 2023.
Good to know
Play Wanted Dead or Alive then 2 then Helldorado then 3 for the smoothest learning curve, since 3 refines controls the old games lack. Story purists can play 3 first as a prequel, but Kate's intro loses impact without the original hunt. Helldorado needs the 2 save import for full context. Treat the four as closed while no studio holds the license actively.
