About Deus Ex
Deus Ex began with Ion Storm's Deus Ex (2000) about JC Denton unraveling Majestic 12 in 2052, followed by Invisible War (2003) set decades later. Eidos Montreal rebooted the timeline backward with Human Revolution (2011) about Adam Jensen in 2027 Detroit and Hengsha, then Mankind Divided (2016) in Prague around the aug apartheid crisis.
Mankind Divided ends on a cliffhanger its cancelled sequel never resolved, and Embracer's 2024 cancellation of the new Deus Ex left the franchise without a dated next game. Eidos Montreal stays active on other projects while the series waits, so the four games stand as the complete run for now.
Good to know
Play in release order for the cleanest run, since each game reteaches stealth, hacking and social builds. Chronology runs Human Revolution, Mankind Divided, the original, then Invisible War, but playing that way spoils the original's conspiracies. The Missing Link DLC fits inside Human Revolution and the System Rift DLC inside Mankind Divided, both in place.
