About Cyberpunk
Cyberpunk 2077 drops V into Night City with a failing chip holding Johnny Silverhand’s mind, and the Phantom Liberty expansion adds a Dogtown spy plot that plays inside the main story. Update 2.0 reworked police, perks and car combat, so new players get the modern version from the start.
The Ultimate Edition bundles the base game with Phantom Liberty and is the version to buy now, including the Switch 2 and Mac ports. The Edgerunners anime is a standalone Night City story worth watching after the game. A full sequel under the name Project Orion is in pre-production with no date.
Good to know
Play the base game first, then Phantom Liberty, since the expansion assumes V’s contacts and reputation are established. The Ultimate Edition is simply both together, so owners of the bundle need no separate purchase. Edgerunners is canon-adjacent but optional and works best after you know Night City. Cyberpunk 2 is in pre-production with no date, and Edgerunners 2 premieres on Netflix in October 2026.
