About Dillon
Dillon's Rolling Western arrived February 2012 on 3DS eShop with armadillo ranger Dillon rolling through frontier towns against Grocks. The Last Ranger arrived April 2013 continuing the defense with new stages. Dillon's Dead-Heat Breakers arrived May 2018 on Switch moving to city sieges with Mii support.
Vanpool developed all three for Nintendo. No fourth entry has been announced. The three form one ranger run with tower defense and rolling combat that refines each time. Each stands alone with a new frontier, but mechanics build in order.
Good to know
Release order matches the tower defense growth from frontier to city. Last Ranger assumes you know rolling and gun towers from the debut. Dead-Heat adds Mii characters and Amiibo support that only makes sense after the 3DS pair. With Vanpool closed in 2023, the 2018 entry closes the line. All three stay handheld focused except the Switch finale.
