Play Order (Release = Chronological)Recommended
0 / 4 playedRelease order. The two PlayStation-era games tell one story, then the Xbox sequel and the lost mobile game.
- 1 Dino Crisis Capcom survival horror original. The entry point; use the GOG (2025) or Steam (2026) re-release.
- 2 Dino Crisis 2 Arcade-style sequel starring Regina and Dylan. Direct continuation of the first game.
- 3 Dino Crisis 3 Xbox-only entry set on a ship in space with a new cast. Weakest of the three, but canon.
- 4 Dino Crisis: Dungeon in Chaos Japan-only mobile first-person shooter. Long unplayable, so it is listed for completeness only.
About Dino Crisis
Dino Crisis is Capcom's survival horror series about dinosaur outbreaks in sealed facilities, created by Shinji Mikami. The 1999 original plays like Resident Evil with raptors, while Dino Crisis 2 (2000) shifts to fast arcade action. Dino Crisis 3 (2003) moved to space with a new cast and landed poorly.
This play order follows release order, which matches the story order for the main games. New players should start with Dino Crisis (1999), then play Dino Crisis 2. The GOG and Steam re-releases of the first two games from 2025 and 2026 are the easiest legal way to play them now.
Good to know
Dino Stalker (2002) is a Gun Survivor light-gun spinoff with Dino Crisis 2 ties and sits outside the main story. Dino Crisis: Dungeon in Chaos (2003) was a Japan-only mobile shooter that is no longer playable, so it is listed for completeness. Capcom has announced nothing new. A 2025 leak claim described two cancelled revival attempts, and July 2026 rumors described a remake in development since 2022 with a possible 2028 or 2029 reveal, but none of this is confirmed. Capcom's May 2026 investor briefing did not name Dino Crisis among its growth brands, and Exoprimal (2023) is a separate game.
