About EverQuest

EverQuest is Sony's fantasy MMO that defined raiding and grouping. EverQuest from March 1999 by Verant opens Norrath with dozens of zones and 32 expansions since, still getting yearly updates and progression servers that replay 1999 rules. It won GameSpot 1999 Game of the Year.

EverQuest II from November 2004 moves 500 years forward with new Qeynos and Freeport hubs, separate expansions and a 2025 PvP Dozekar server. Daybreak runs both in parallel with free to play modes. The stories never cross, so pick by community and graphics taste rather than plot.

Good to know

There is no shared timeline to merge, since part two jumps 500 years with new cities. Release order is still the best history lesson: 1999 for classic grind and raid roots, then 2004 for modern quests and housing. Newcomers who want population should try progression servers first. Both games remain live with 2025 and 2026 updates.
