About Diablo

Diablo follows the war for Sanctuary across four numbered games plus expansions. The original from 1996 covers Tristram, Diablo II from 2000 with Lord of Destruction chases the Prime Evils across acts, and Diablo III from 2012 with Reaper of Souls ends the Black Soulstone saga.

Immortal from 2022 slots between II and III as a mobile bridge story, and Diablo IV from 2023 brings Lilith back with the Vessel of Hatred expansion in 2024. Seasonal content keeps IV growing, so the campaign order below stays fixed while the live game moves on.

Good to know

Play in release order, since each game assumes the last apocalypse and the expansions are direct continuations. Immortal fits between II and III in lore but plays best after III as a side story. Story order roughly matches release order, so one list covers it, and Diablo IV seasons can be joined any time after the campaign without order pressure.
