About Bravely
Bravely runs three JRPGs from Square Enix about crystal borne worlds and job system parties. Bravely Default from 2012 introduces Luxendarc with Tiz, Agnes and Edea, Bravely Second continues directly two and a half years later, and Bravely Default II from 2021 starts fresh in Excillant with Seth, Gloria, Elvis and Adelle.
Play Default before Second since the sequel spoils the original outright, then play II any time as a standalone. The western Default release folds in the For the Sequel improvements, and a Switch 2 HD remaster of Default arrived in 2025 with more ports in 2026.
Good to know
Release order is required order for the first two because Second continues the same world and cast. Default II carries the second name for branding reasons despite being the third game, and its new world needs no prior play. No fourth game has been announced as of 2026, though the producer has spoken about continuing the line.
