About Suikoden
Suikoden is Konami's series about collecting 108 Stars of Destiny to turn rebellions, starting with the Scarlet Moon Empire in 1995 and the Dunan war in 1998. Saving part one lets its hero cameo in part two, so the first two games pair tightly.
Later entries jump regions and centuries, from the Zexen Grasslands to Falena's sun rune war, while the 2025 HD Remaster modernizes the first two. Star Leap from August 2026 is a mobile prequel set four years before the original. New players should use release order and treat lore order as a rewatch map.
Good to know
Story order differs because the fourth game is the earliest in time and the fifth follows it, while Star Leap slots just before the original. First-timers should still use release order, since mechanics and save transfers assume it. Tierkreis sits in a separate dimension outside both lists. The HD Remaster covers the first two games. A Suikoden anime premieres October 2026 with a stage play in 2027.
