About Evil Within
The Evil Within began with Tango Gameworks in 2014 about detective Sebastian Castellanos trapped in Ruvik's STEM world around Beacon. The Assignment and Consequence DLC (2015) retell the mansion from Juli Kidman's view. The Evil Within 2 (2017) moves Sebastian into the Union simulation hunting Myra's signal to save Lily.
Tango closed under Microsoft in 2024 with the studio's exit leaving no third game dated as of 2026. The STEM rules and the Mobius conspiracy connect both games directly, with the sequel assuming the Ruvik fall.
Good to know
Play the first game with its Kidman DLC inside, then the sequel, since Myra's arc and the Mobius reveal assume the Beacon events. The Assignment chapters slot after the main mansion stretch rather than before the game. The sequel opens its hub structure wider, so expect less linear scares after the tight original.
