About The Evil Within

The Evil Within is Tango Gameworks' survival horror series from Shinji Mikami, built around STEM, a machine that stitches broken minds into one nightmare. Detective Sebastian Castellanos fights through Beacon and Union to find his family. Resources stay thin and the traps stay cruel.

This play order follows release order. New players should start with The Evil Within (2014), then play the two Kidman chapters before moving to The Evil Within 2.

Good to know

The Assignment (March 2015) and The Consequence (April 2015) form one Kidman story told in two parts. The Executioner (2015) is a first-person combat side chapter as the Keeper and is skippable. Mikami left Tango in 2023. Microsoft closed the studio in May 2024, then Krafton bought it that August; Krafton confirmed only Hi-Fi Rush moved over, so The Evil Within stays with Microsoft. No third game has been announced.
