About EyeToy

EyeToy: Play launched with the camera in Europe in July 2003, and every core entry builds on the same trick. You appear on screen and use your body to swat robots, spin records and keep plates spinning. Groove from 2003 adds rhythm games, AntiGrav from 2004 is a full hoverboard racer made with Harmonix, and Play 2 from 2004 widens the minigame set with sports and cooking rounds.

Kinetic from 2005 turns the camera into a fitness coach with guided workout routines, and Kinetic Combat from 2006 follows with martial arts training. Play 3 from 2005 packs in over a hundred games aimed at younger players, and Astro Zoo from 2007 closes the core run with animal themed minigames. Licensed discs like Sega Superstars and Monkey Mania sit outside this spine and can wait.

Good to know

Release order is the play order, since these discs share no story and each one is self contained. Dates below use the first European release, because North America often followed by months. Around twenty further camera titles exist beyond this core eight, including Japan only discs and late arrivals like PomPom Party from 2008. The PlayStation Eye on PS3 is the hardware successor, and its games form a separate library with EyePet.
