About Fallout
Fallout is a post-nuclear RPG series that moved from Black Isle's isometric originals (1997-1998) to Bethesda's open world first-person games (2008 onward), with Obsidian's New Vegas (2010) in between. Newcomers who want modern systems should start with Fallout 3 or New Vegas. Purists who want the origins can start with Fallout 1, which is shorter than most people expect.
This play order follows release order. Story links are loose, so release order is about seeing systems evolve rather than following one plot. The TV show has its own post and is not listed here. DLC for Fallout 3, New Vegas and Fallout 4 is grouped under each base game.
