About Fear Effect
Fear Effect follows mercenaries Hana, Glas and Deke through a Hong Kong job that slides into ancient Chinese myth. The 2000 original sets the team and the fear meter, where taking hits raises fear and steadies aim through calm play.
Retro Helix from 2001 is a prequel about how Hana meets Rain and the team forms, best played second to preserve the original reveals. Sedna from 2018 continues years later with isometric tactics. Play in release order. Chronological order starts with Retro Helix, but it spoils team secrets that land better after the original.
