About Front Mission

Front Mission is Square's wanzer tactics series, running from the 1995 original through 2, 3, 4 and 5 across Huffman Island's wars, plus the Online, 2089 and Evolved branches and the recent 1st and 2nd remakes. The numbered games form one military saga of coups and conspiracies.

Play the numbered entries in release order, remakes included where noted. The stories connect through Huffman and the OCU, so sequence carries the geopolitics. Evolved and the side branches sit apart as action flavored alternates, skippable for anyone here for the tactics core.

Good to know

The 1st and 2nd remakes from 2022 to 2023 are the easiest modern doors into the early games, replacing the fan translation era. The series is quiet with no sixth entry announced, though the remakes show Square has not shelved it. 5th remains Japan only outside imports, which the list below marks plainly.
