About Frostpunk
Frostpunk is 11 bit studios' society survival city-builder about keeping New London alive after a volcanic winter. The first game pairs its main campaign with five scenarios, and newcomers should start with the base game's A New Home campaign. It teaches heat, law and faction systems that every later scenario assumes you know.
Release order is the recommended play order. Play A New Home first, then the scenarios in release order, then Frostpunk 2, which is set 30 years later under a new leader and adapts its opening to Order or Faith endings from the first game. The Last Autumn is a prequel DLC and On The Edge is a story epilogue, but both hit harder once the main campaign's stakes are clear.
Good to know
Frostpunk 2 reached PC on September 20, 2024 and PS5 plus Xbox Series X/S on September 18, 2025. A Frostpunk 2 roadmap added DLC plans including Fractured Utopias and Breach of Trust, with Breach of Trust reported for June 2026; confirm the current state on Steam, since post-launch plans shift. Separately, 11 bit studios has announced Frostpunk: 1886, an Unreal Engine reimagining of the first game now in the wishlist phase, with reporting pointing to 2027 and no firm date confirmed.
