About Genji
Genji follows Minamoto Yoshitsune and the monk Benkei fighting the Heike clan with magic blades. Dawn of the Blade launched in 2005 on PlayStation 2 with stage based samurai action and Kamui powers. Days of the Blade followed in 2006 as a PlayStation 3 launch title with new heroes, larger fields and the same blade clash loop.
Both games form one loose history run with returning heroes and Amahagane stones. Play the 2005 original, then the 2006 sequel for the full war from first revolt to the later Heike push. There are no later main games beyond the pair, so the two game run from 2005 to 2006 is the complete path from first blade to the final battle.
Good to know
Play Dawn of the Blade first from 2005, since it sets Yoshitsune and the Kamui system. Days of the Blade continues with new playable heroes, so it plays best second. The stage action rewards release order with steady move growth. The pair is complete as a two game samurai run. Release order keeps hero debuts and blade unlocks clear for players here.
