About Dishonored
Dishonored starts in Dunwall in 2012 with Corvo Attano framed for the Empress murder. Two 2013 DLCs, The Knife of Dunwall and The Brigmore Witches, follow assassin Daud and set up Delilah, the villain of the sequel. Dishonored 2 from 2016 jumps to Karnaca in 1852 with Emily or Corvo playable against Delilah's coup.
Death of the Outsider from 2017 closes the Kaldwin era with Billie Lurk hunting the Outsider itself. Release order matches story order, and the DLC is required setup for the sequel's villain rather than optional. Deathloop from 2021 shares the universe far in the future and stays optional outside this list.
Good to know
Do not skip the first game's DLC. Delilah debuts there, so Dishonored 2's opening assumes you know her claim to the throne. Play Dishonored, then both DLCs, then Dishonored 2, then Death of the Outsider. The Definitive Edition bundles the DLC with the first game, which is the easiest buy. Death of the Outsider drops the chaos system and unlocks powers together, so it plays shorter and more linear than the numbered games.
