About Prince of Persia
Prince of Persia starts with Jordan Mechner's 1989 original about the Vizier, the hourglass and Farah's line. The Sands trilogy reboots it: The Sands of Time in 2003 with the dagger rewind, Warrior Within in 2004 chasing the Dahaka, and The Two Thrones in 2005 closing the loop as a planned coming-of-age arc. The 2008 reboot with Elika and The Forgotten Sands in 2010 branch apart as separate Princes.
The Lost Crown from 2024 returns as a 2D Sargon story with strong reviews, and The Rogue Prince from 2024 runs a roguelike branch from Evil Empire. The Sands of Time remake was cancelled in January 2026 after years of restarts, with Ubisoft saying quality never landed. Play the Sands trilogy in release order; everything else stands alone around it.
Good to know
Play the 1989 original or skip it, then the Sands trilogy straight through. Warrior Within and Two Thrones assume the dagger rules from Sands of Time, while the 2008 reboot and Forgotten Sands reset with new Princes. Lost Crown and Rogue Prince need nothing before them. The cancelled remake changes nothing in the list, but it means the 2003 original stays the only way to play that story for now.
