About Homeworld
Homeworld is the landmark 3D space strategy series about the Kushan exile fleet and its return to Hiigara. It spans the original trilogy, a ground-based prequel and the 2024 sequel. Newcomers should start with the first Homeworld as presented in the Homeworld Remastered Collection, which is the current version of the opening two games.
Release order is the recommended play order, and the chronological list below is a second option for replays. Cataclysm sits between the first two games in both orders, while Deserts of Kharak is a prequel best played after the originals even though it comes first in story time. Homeworld 3 closes the current story more than a century after Homeworld 2.
Good to know
Homeworld: Cataclysm (2000) was re-released digitally as Homeworld: Emergence in 2017 over a trademark conflict, and it is not part of the Remastered Collection, so it must be bought separately. Homeworld 3 launched May 13, 2024; its November 2024 update was confirmed as the last, and no next game has been announced.
