About Homeworld
Homeworld launches the Kushan mothership from Kharak in 1999 across a full 3D galaxy map, ending at Hiigara. Cataclysm from 2000 runs a standalone Beast crisis in between, and Homeworld 2 from 2003 continues the Vaygr war.
The Remastered Collection from 2015 modernizes the first two, Deserts of Kharak from 2016 rewinds to a ground prequel, and Homeworld 3 from 2024 continues with Kalan Raider expansions. Mobile and VR entries sit outside the core. Release order is recommended with the prequel as a flashback.
Good to know
Story order differs because Deserts of Kharak predates the mothership launch, but release order keeps the fleet mechanics ramp intact. Cataclysm is now Emergence on GOG after a trademark rename and was excluded from the Remaster over lost source code. The November 2024 update is the last major content with no more announced. Start with the 1999 original or its Remaster.
