About Knights of the Old Republic
KOTOR launched July 15, 2003 on Xbox from BioWare with Revan and Malak four thousand years before the films. KOTOR II Sith Lords followed December 2004 from Obsidian with the Exile and Kreia in a darker deconstruction. Both run party based real time with pause.
The Old Republic MMO launched December 20, 2011 and carries the timeline forward with expansions to Legacy of the Sith on February 15, 2022. A KOTOR remake announced in 2021 moved from Aspyr to Saber with no date. Fate of the Old Republic was announced December 2025 as a spiritual follow. Play the two single player games first.
Good to know
Release order beats timeline shuffling, since KOTOR II assumes the first twist lands unspoiled. The MMO sits after both with hundreds of hours and its own canon weight. The remake has no date after studio moves, so it stays out of the list until Saber ships. Fate of the Old Republic is announced but undated and stays out for now.
