About Layers of Fear
Layers of Fear from February 2016 follows the painter through shifting rooms with finish the work dread, with Inheritance that August as the daughter coda. Legacy brought the set to Switch in 2018 with extras included.
Layers of Fear 2 from May 2019 moves to an actor on a liner with new leads and film sets. The 2023 rebuild on Unreal Engine 5 combines both games plus Inheritance with new Wife and Director chapters around a writer frame story. Layers of Fear 3 was announced in February 2026 with no platforms or date yet.
Good to know
Play the 2016 game with Inheritance, then the 2019 sequel, then the 2023 rebuild as a revisit. The rebuild retells rather than continues, so it works as a definitive replay after. The third game stays yearless until Bloober dates it, since the 2026 teaser gave no window. A novel arrives separately at end of 2026.
