Luigi's Mansion traps Luigi in a haunted mansion clearing portrait ghosts with the Poltergust in 2001, ending with Mario freed from the painting. Dark Moon from 2013 spreads the hunt across five mansions with Evershade Valley's Dark Moon shards.
Luigi's Mansion 3 from 2019 moves to a haunted hotel with Gooigi co-op, and the 2024 Switch remaster modernizes Dark Moon in HD. Stories stand alone around E. Gadd's gadgets, so release order is the mechanical ramp. The arcade rail shooter stays a side note. Play 1, then Dark Moon, then 3.

Release order is recommended since each mansion assumes no prior story but teaches new Poltergust tricks. The 2024 Luigi's Mansion 2 HD is the Dark Moon version to buy today. The 2018 3DS remake of the original covers the same ground. The 2015 arcade game is a Japan-focused rail spin-off outside this list. No new mansion is announced after the 2024 remaster.
