About Luigi's Mansion

The Luigi's Mansion games form a short trilogy: the 2001 GameCube original, Dark Moon on 3DS from 2013, and Luigi's Mansion 3 on Switch from 2019. Release order matches story order, so the play order is simple: play them 1, 2, 3.

Newcomers should start with Luigi's Mansion 3. It is the longest, the funniest, and the easiest to buy on current hardware. Go back to the first two only if you want the full set.

Good to know

Luigi's Mansion 2 HD (Switch, June 27, 2024) is the current version of Dark Moon; play it instead of the 3DS original. Luigi's Mansion Arcade (2015, developed by Capcom for Sega cabinets, based on Dark Moon) is a first-person rail shooter found mostly in Japanese arcades and some Dave and Buster's locations, and it sits outside the main list. The 3DS port of the first game (2018) adds a boss-rush mode but the GameCube original plays fine. No fourth game has been announced as of September 2026, so the series reads as quiet rather than finished.
