About Media Molecule
Media Molecule from Guildford makes creation platformers. LittleBigPlanet arrived October 2008 with PSP in 2009 and LittleBigPlanet 2 in January 2011. Sackboy Prehistoric Moves arrived 2010 as co-dev extra. Tearaway arrived November 2013 on Vita with Unfolded expanded remake in September 2015 co developed with Tarsier.
Dreams entered early access April 2019 with full release February 2020 as creation suite, not sequel. Live support ended September 2023 to shift to new IP with founders out through 2023 and layoffs that October. Karting 2012 and LittleBigPlanet 3 2014 stay out as United Front and Sumo work with early help only. New IP has no title or date.
Good to know
Play LittleBigPlanet 1, then 2, then Tearaway Vita or Unfolded once since same story expanded, then Dreams platform. Story is minimal with creation tools as focus, so release tracks tool growth. Play Karting and LittleBigPlanet 3 any time as non Molecule leads. Add new IP at the end when announced. Keep release order for the five.
