About Microsoft

Microsoft Studios anchored Xbox with Halo's sci-fi shooting in 2001. Fable added moral choices to fantasy in 2004. Forza Motorsport brought track precision in 2005. Gears of War defined cover shooting in 2006.

Minecraft joined via Mojang acquisition and became the best-selling game ever. Starfield launched the Bethesda era with planet exploration in 2023. Playing in release order shows shooting, driving and building systems maturing across hardware generations. Newcomers can start with Game Pass entries like Starfield or Forza Horizon without playing the original Xbox titles first.

Good to know

Play in release order. The franchises do not connect, so no story order exists across them. Within each series, play numerically: Halo 1 through Infinite, Gears 1 through 5, Forza Motorsport in order. Minecraft works anytime as a sandbox for builders. Starfield slots last as the newest universe for explorers.
