About The Outer Worlds
The Outer Worlds sends a thawed colonist across Halcyon fixing corporate towns with companions like Parvati and Ellie. The 2019 base game ends with the colony's fate decided, and two DLCs add the Gorgon asteroid and the Eridanos murder mystery to the same map set.
The Outer Worlds 2 from October 2025 moves to a new Arcadia system with an Earth Directorate agent and no returning crew required. Stories do not carry over, so the sequel works cold. Play the first game with its DLCs, then the sequel. Two more expansions are covered by a DLC pass with no dates.
Good to know
Release order is the play order, since the sequel is standalone with a new cast and system. Play Peril on Gorgon then Murder on Eridanos after the base game's main beats. The Spacer's Choice Edition bundles the first game for current consoles. The Outer Worlds 2 DLC pass covers two future story expansions with no titles or dates yet. No prior choices transfer between games.
