About Mount and Blade
Mount and Blade is a TaleWorlds sandbox where you recruit troops, trade and siege across Calradia. The 2008 original sets the loop. Warband refines it and adds multiplayer. With Fire and Sword moves the formula to 17th century Eastern Europe with guns.
Bannerlord arrived in early access in 2020 and full release in 2022 as a prequel set 200 years earlier. Expansions like Napoleonic Wars and Viking Conquest slot with their base games. Release order teaches the systems in the order they were built.
Good to know
Play in release order. Bannerlord is a prequel by date but it assumes you know the loop, so starting there spoils the learning curve. The multiplayer expansions need their base game, which is why they share entries below rather than standing alone. Warband still has the liveliest servers, so expect to spend the most time there.
