Adventure first, then the platform.

About The Neverhood

The Neverhood follows Klaymen in a clay world on discs with Hoborg around in 1996. It sets point click, records and hall rules. The game ends with the world saved. Skullmonkeys from 1998 continues as a platform run with Evil Engine across worlds. No third game has been dated in this guide. Play the 1996 adventure first, then the 1998 platform, since the second assumes the clay base. Both run with clay films and music halls for new players. Discs stand alone per hall, but clay and music rules grow from adventure to platform.

Good to know

Release order matches the intended path, with the platform as a sequel rather than a remake. Do not play Skullmonkeys first, because it spoils the Neverhood disc wins. The adventure works alone for clay puzzles, but the platform run needs the Hoborg setup. Start at The Neverhood for the clay disc rules.
