About Plants vs Zombies
Plants vs Zombies started as a PC lane defense game May 5, 2009 with Crazy Dave, then spread to consoles and mobile. PvZ 2 arrived on mobile in 2013 with time travel worlds. Garden Warfare turned the setup into a team shooter in 2014 with a sequel in 2016.
Heroes added a card battler in 2016. Battle for Neighborville shipped in 2019 with Switch following in 2021. PvZ 3 soft launched in select regions in January 2024 with an Evolved build in October 2025. Replanted remastered the 2009 original on October 23, 2025 with co-op. Play lane games then shooters in release order.
Good to know
There is no single timeline across tower defense, shooters, and cards, so release order is the practical path. New players should start with the 2009 original or its 2025 Replanted version, not both back to back. PvZ 3 has no worldwide launch date and stays as a soft-launch entry until EA confirms. Garden Warfare 1 before 2 matters for class unlocks feeling natural.
