About Red Dead Redemption
Red Dead Redemption tells its story backwards, which is why play order matters more than it looks. Red Dead Revolver from 2004 is a loose arcade-style start, Redemption from 2010 follows John Marston in 1911, and Red Dead Redemption 2 from 2018 is a prequel set in 1899 about Arthur Morgan.
Undead Nightmare from 2010 is a zombie what-if that sits outside canon. There is no Red Dead Redemption 3 dated, so the duology plus Revolver is the full Rockstar western set for now, with Red Dead Online as the multiplayer extra.
Good to know
Play Red Dead Redemption 2 first, then Redemption 1, since the prequel was written assuming you know where John ends up and the ending hits harder in that sequence. Revolver can be skipped or saved for last as a curiosity. Undead Nightmare fits after Redemption 1 in release terms but stays non-canon, so keep it separate from the main story.
