About Rise of the Ronin
Rise of the Ronin is an open world action RPG from Team Ninja set in Bakumatsu era Japan. The PlayStation 5 release from March 22, 2024 follows a Veiled Edge survivor through Yokohama, Edo and Kyoto across the shogunate's fall. The PC Steam release from March 11, 2025 carries the same campaign with all updates included.
Play the PS5 base game first, then the PC release content in turn, since both cover one identical campaign of bonds, factions and blades. Early districts teach stances and bonds, while late cities demand full faction choices. Release order keeps each ally and district timed right from 2024 to 2025.
Good to know
Play the 2024 PS5 game first through Yokohama, Edo and Kyoto, then the 2025 PC extras in turn. Learn stances and bonds in early districts before committing to late faction choices. Ally bonds shape endings, so rotate companions early. Two releases in order cover the Veiled Edge run, with gliding and grappling rewarding full map exploration.
