About Rogue Legacy
Rogue Legacy follows endless heirs storming a shifting castle with traits like dwarfism and vertigo in the 2013 original. Each death passes gold to the next heir for manor upgrades that slowly open new wings, while runes and blueprints shape the next push into harder wings.
Rogue Legacy 2 from 2022 rebuilds the run with new classes, biomes and a resolve system across a larger castle with truer platforming and bosses. It keeps the heir loop and trait jokes but resets the map and story, so the sequel assumes the loop is known while starting a fresh family line for new players learning the loop.
Good to know
Play the 2013 original first to learn heir traits and manor growth, then the 2022 sequel last for the expanded sequel run today. Story order barely matters beyond the family joke, so release order is the clean path for both full castles. Both games close their castle arcs with no third dated, so treat the pair as complete and max the manor in each run.
