About Shadows of the Damned
Shadows of the Damned from June 2011 pairs demon hunter Garcia Hotspur with floating skull Johnson through the underworld, led by Suda with Shinji Mikami producing and Akira Yamaoka scoring. The PS3 and 360 run mixes shooter stages with light and dark puzzles.
Hella Remastered arrived October 2024 across PlayStation, Xbox, Switch and Steam with 4K60, New Game Plus, four new costumes and modern controls. The original was delisted in 2021 ahead of it. Suda says a sequel needs huge remaster sales, with only loose ideas discussed, so none is dated.
Good to know
Play Hella Remastered and skip hunting the original unless chasing disc quirks from 2011. The story and voices match, with only costumes and extras added on top. Johnson cameo in Travis Strikes Again is a fun extra after, not required homework at all. A sequel stays talk until sales force a greenlight.
