About Spider-Man Games

Insomniac's Spider-Man universe starts with Marvel's Spider-Man in 2018, following Peter Parker against Mister Negative and Doc Ock in New York. Miles Morales from 2020 continues a year later with Miles protecting Harlem from the Tinkerer and Roxxon. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 from 2023 pairs both heroes against Kraven, the Lizard and Venom across an expanded city with Brooklyn and Queens.

Marvel's Wolverine joined them on September 15, 2026. Insomniac developed it with Sony Interactive Entertainment publishing, and it is a standalone entry in the same series with an original, self-contained story that shares continuity with the other Marvel games. Wolverine is an amnesiac mutant who rejoins his former unit, Team X, to investigate the abduction of displaced mutants by Bolivar Trask and the Reavers militia, and to find answers about his own past.

The game was announced in September 2021 and went through a leadership change during development, with Marcus Smith and Mike Daly replacing the original creative director and game director by October 2024. Reviews were generally favourable, praising the graphics, cinematics, voice acting and combat spectacle, while criticising the depth and repetition of the story.

Good to know

Play in release order with all DLC inside the first game before moving on. The City That Never Sleeps chapters set up Miles, so skipping them weakens his debut.

Miles Morales is shorter than a numbered entry but required for Spider-Man 2, since its ending hands Miles the shared lead.

Wolverine is a standalone story rather than a chapter of the Peter and Miles arc, so it can be played at any point without spoilers, though it sits in the same universe and the same city. If you want it last, release order puts it there naturally.
